Nashville's Elite Gridiron Gangs Get Back to Work in Music City
When it comes to football in Nashville and the surrounding region - there is so much more to focus on than just the Tennessee Titans who dominate the headlines with their elite NFL status. But, a quick look around reveals a rich and growing gridiron culture within the ranks of the many amateur and semi-pro leagues that serve the area and offers players - both male and female - an opportunity to keep playing the great game once school is out.
 Do the Nashville Elite have the best sports logo in town? We think so! On Sunday, February 21, 2021 - as Nashville was thawing out from the largest and longest period of snowfall in almost 25 years - we stopped by midtown's Murrell Park in the shadow of the skyline and a stone's throw from Music Row - to observe a late winter practice underway on a snow-covered field that was being shared by two of Nashville's more prominent teams. On hand were players from the Nashville Elite for men and the Music City Mizfits who help make sure our athletic women get a shot to pursue their gridiron dreams.
 Team owner Tahnesia Richmond has high hopes for 2021 after last year's many challenges on and off the field. We enjoyed interacting with the players and Elite owner Tahnesia Richmond while watching Linebackers Coach Matt "Tank" Breymeyer take off the kid gloves and get a little tough with both squads - running intense drills and instilling discipline early for what promises to be a tough campaign for both teams. The Nashville Elite have just joined the new Alliance Football League that could take them as far away as Roanoke, Virginia once the new schedule drops.
 This coaching squad plays both sides of the ball mentoring the Nashville Elite and Music City Mizfits. Tracy Logan (Defensive Coordinator for the Elite and Head Coach for the Mizfits) is a Nashville native and an ordained minister who played semi-pro football for the Nashville Mustangs and Green Machine. This year finds him on the sidelines for both teams. The Music City Mizfits - who play tackle football in pads on a full size field (unlike the demeaning LFL team who had a cup of coffee in town for two seasons before folding) - will benefit from his guidance and experience as they battle it out again in Division 3 of the impressively ambitious Women's Football Alliance. Come out and support both teams in 2021 because at the moment there is more football than music happening in the legendary Music City.
